MITOCHONDRIA IS A FURNITURE SYSTEM DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR A 90-SQUARE-FOOT SHORT-TERM LIVING SPACE.
Mitochondria is a collaborative project with Solveig Johannessen. The request was to create a system that was economical, but durable, catering to different tenant needs and turnover. Our research uncovered that storage was the highest priority for the tenants in terms of furnishing needs. By utilizing a system of French Cleats on rails, Mitochondria affords infinite permutations and customization. All pieces were vacuum-formed with a single mold, allowing inexpensive and easy reproduction.
